Crossing our Fingers, and our Toes.
Today is our last day in our house.
Last night was the last night in our bed.
The house is clean, the bags are packed, and as far as I know we have everything taken care of. Except for the medical bill that I just got for an ambulance ride dated three years ago, but I figure they can wait another few months to get paid if they can wait three years to get a bill mailed out.
It looks like everything might be coming together.... we have our fingers crossed anyways. This is in no way thanks to the relo people who have done absolutely NOTHING to help us get anything settled. Other than signing the let agreements, they are worth absolutely nothing to us. We've done all their work! I should get a commission or a signing bonus or something after this ordeal is over and done with. We found a house this morning, and if all goes like it should, we will HAVE a house. They are faxing the let agreement over as we speak. The bad news is it's not open until July 4. The good news is, the bank will pay for us to be in a hotel after a week or so at the inlaws. So I don't have to stress about leaving my sister and brother in law homeless when they come for a visit!!! They'll have their own pad and plenty of the lanes and beautiful Brighton to explore on their own if they so choose to. So I feel better about that now too.
Stewart and I came to the conclusion that probably half or more of London's current homeless population are probably American Bank of America execs. Just trying to find some cash to get home, after their "housing" never came thru. Living on the streets, begging for a pound so they can get a shower at Victoria Station.
Anyway, I have gotten off on a tangent. This will probably be the last blog until we are in England. :) Then my time will finally be correct on here... it's weird to read my posts as if I am posting from the future. Soon enough, I really will be five hours ahead.
So here's to a safe flight, a flight with sleeping children, a house, and a happy family to meet us at the airport.
I'll speak to all you Americans as soon as I leap the atlantic and hook a computer up.
